Where to find the best coffee in Vasastan

Publish date: 25 October 2024

In the mood for a coffee somewhere in the northern part of inner-city Stockholm? Here are some of the best coffeeshops in Vasastan.

Vasastan is inner-city Stockholm's northernmost district. From Norra Stationsgatan you can see the Karolinska Institute and Hagastaden which are located in the neighboring municipality of Solna. And although Vasastan is still very much a part of the busy downtown area of Stockholm nature is never far away. From here you can reach both Haga Park and Stockholm University by taking a scenic walk along the shore of Lake Brunnsviken. Perhaps with a cup of freshly brewed coffee in hand, from Vasastan's great cafés?

At Odenplan you'll also find Johan & Nyström, a name closely associated with coffee expertise. On the streets surrounding Odenplan, Vasastans main traffic hub, you'll find several cafés if you need to grab a quick coffee to go, for example, Blåbär and Café Pascal. Java Whiskers, on the other hand, is of a different breed; guests are welcome to relax with a cup of coffee and pet the cats living in this café/cat shelter.

Ritorno has been around since 1959 and is a classic Swedish pastry shop, Café Koya serves coffee and desserts with a Japanese twist, and Lillebrors Bageri serves some of the city's best semla-pastries (when they're in season, that is). Here's a small sample of what Vasastan has to offer if you're in the mood for a Swedish fika!
