Need to cool off with a creamy gelato or chilly sherbert? Here are some great ice cream parlors in Stockholm.

Is there a better way to chill out than with a cone of delicious ice cream? We certainly don't think so. Ice cream is the ultimate summer accessory.

Spearheaded by cafés like Stikki Nikki and Fryst, artisan ice cream parlors open up all over town, making their frozen desserts by hand. Some are only open during the summer season. But many serve chilled delicacies all year round.

Here are a few recommendations around the city.

All-year-round ice cream bars in Stockholm

  • Fryst – Named one of the world's 25 best ice cream cafés by the Financial Times, Fryst has made frozen delicacies on Kungsholmen since 2013.
  • Italienaren i Gubbängen – Pizzeria, café and ice cream café in the southern Stockholm suburb of Gubbängen that serves timeless flavours of classic Italian gelato.
  • Kennys Gelato Sickla – Kenny Mattson was named Sweden's top ice cream maker in 2022. The eponymous cafés offer a mix of classic flavors with unexpected combos.
  • Kungsholmens Glassfabrik – Café and ice cream parlour, just a short walk from City Hall on Kungsholmen. Enjoy your frozen dessert on-site or buy some buckets to bring home.
  • La Gelateria Sofo – Artisinal ice cream parlor on Götgatan where typical Italian techniques often meet Swedish flavors and ingredients.

  • Scarfò – Artisan ice cream bar in the northern suburb of Ålsten. Despite its off-the-beaten-path location, Scarfò has been a hub for ice cream aficionados since 2014.
  • Snö – Snö were crowned Swedish ice cream champions in 2016 and 2018. The ice cream is made on Ktvarnholmen in Nacka, to be sent out to their bars in Vasastan, Täby, and Södermalm.
  • Stikki Nikki – A well-known name amongst Stockholm's ice cream lovers. Stikki Nikki operates several bars across town. Their Mariatorget location serves only vegan-friendly ice cream made from plant-based ingredients.
  • Stockholms Glasshus – A Vasastan classic that has made artisanal gelato and sherbert since 1986. Also makes ice cream cakes and pastries.

Seasonal ice cream bars in Stockholm

  • Aryam – Seasonal ice cream parlor by Slussen, run by internationally renowned ice cream maker Hosanna Amanuel. Open spring and summer.
  • Francis & Francis – Soft-serve ice cream in inventive flavors and with colorful toppings. Has after a couple of address changes found a home on Rådmansgatan in central Stockholm.
  • Gelato Caput Mundi – Caput Mundi serves artisanal gelato, during spring and summer, at their café on Hornsgatan and from the kiosk in cozy Axel Lindquist Park.
  • Glassverkstan Skeppsholmen – Glassverkstan's chilly deserts can be found, during the spring and summer seasons, at several locations in Stockholm. The two most central, a café and an ice cream truck are both located on Skeppsholmen.
