Scandinavian design is famous for mixing minimalism and function with style and innovation. During Stockholm Design Week, the spotlight is shone on the biggest Scandinavian designers and future stars.
This year's Stockholm Design Week will take place from 6-12 February. Like previous years, much will revolve around the Stockholm Furniture Fair at the Stockholmsmässan convention hall. But all over Stockholm several venues across Stockholm, from galleries and showrooms to museums and cultural institutions, will highlight Swedish design.
And if you're new to Swedish design and in need of a primer, we highly recommend Nationalmuseum's permanent exhibition, parts of which are available online. The museum has many classics on display like Bumling-armature, Diavox-telephones, and Absolut Vodka bottles, and the exhibition's chronological layout makes it easy to follow the evolution of Swedish design.
Below are some of the events during this year's Stockholm Design Week. Check out their events calendar for a full listing.
