Where to go for Afternoon Tea in Stockholm

Publish date: 23 January 2024

Hot scones, bite-sized snacks, sweet marmalade and of course freshly brewed tea. Here's where to enjoy a traditional British afternoon tea in Stockholm.

Sweden and Stockholm might be synonymous with cinnamon buns and coffee. But aficionados of a classic Afternoon Tea need not despair! Swedes have taken to the typically British tradition and there are several good options if you're looking to warm yourself with a cup of tea and some finger sandwiches.

Autumn and winter are certainly the best seasons to cozy up with cakes, sandwiches, scones, and a nice cup of tea, after a long walk on a crisp and sunny day. Some good options are:

  • Cadierbaren – Bar at the Grand Hôtel. Enjoy your tea in an elegant, yet cozy setting, with a marvelous view over Old Town and the Royal Palace.
  • Chaikhana – Specialist shop and café in Old Town. Their daily Afternoon offer comes in different sizes, depending on if you just want a cup of tea with a light snack or want to treat yourself.
  • Hotell Diplomat – Classic hotel on Östermalm that has been serving Afternoon Tea since the 1960s.
  • The Vasa Museum – The Vasa Museum serves Afternoon Tea in its restaurant less regularly, 3 times every season, but always combines it with lectures on culture and history.

Below you'll find some more ideas on where to go for some afternoon treats, all different from each other.
