Djurgården

Koppartälten (copper-tents) at Haga, elaborate light blue ”tents” build 1787. The front is painted copper plates, hence the name of these pretty buildings.

Part of the Royal National City Park, the lush Haga Park (or just Haga) is situated just north of Stockholm in the suburb of Solna. Founded by the monarch Gustav III in 1780-1797, Haga is Sweden&#x27;s foremost example of an English landscape park, and one of Sweden&#x27;s most popular recreational areas. It&#x27;s also the site of many historical landmarks. The Chinese Temple, The Turkish Kiosk, and The Royal Burial Ground are all found in the park. Within the park is also Haga Palace, the residence of Crown Princess Victoria and her family.

Hornsbergs strand

Hornsbergs strandpark is a relatively new park, located at Kungsholmen&#x27;s northern shore. The park consists of a walking path, running along the water, with several great spots for a nice summer swim along the way.

Parks in Stockholm. Humlegården, a popular park in central Stockholm, in the area of Östermalm. It’s a beautiful day and one of the parks many tree avenues is visible in the picture. The foliage is covering the sky and a statue is visible in a clearing in the distance.

Humlegården is a green oasis a stone&#x27;s throw from nightclub mecca Stureplan, in the middle of the exclusive Östermalm district.Here you can see businessmen in suits eating brown-bag lunches on the grass when it&#x27;s warm and sunny, but also lots of young families and dog owners. In the beginning, the park was a royal garden established by Johan III, who grew fruit, spices, and hops. &quot;Humlan&quot; has been a public park and a popular spot to relax since 1869.The park includes a large playground area, a skateboard ramp, Surfer&#x27;s summer restaurant, and Omnipollos Flora, a summer biergarten. A statue of the flower king Carl Linnaeus stands in the middle of the park, and the National Library of Sweden is right next to Stureplan.

Ivar Lo&#x27;s Park is one of Stockholm&#x27;s most beloved public parks, yet a hidden gem. Overlooking the northern shore&#x27;s of Södermalm, along scenic Monteliusvägen on Mariaberget, Ivar Lo&#x27;s is also a great viewpoint and perfect spot for a summer picnic.

Kronobergsparken

Kronobergsparken on Kungsholmen was made into a public park in the early years of the 20th century. Formerly the site of a mill, its a beloved oasis for the residents of Kungsholmen with both lush greenery and a playground for children.

Kungsträdgården is one of the city&#x27;s most important meeting places. It is open to everyone all year round and offers more than 200 different events, such as festivals, ice skating, and sports and cultural activities. The cherry blossoms in spring in the northern part of the park attract large numbers of visitors.

This idyllic island is a popular spot for picnics, swimming, and recreation for Stockholmers and visitors alike, but this wasn’t always the case. From the eighteenth century until 1974, Långholmen was a dreaded prison island. The old prison has become a popular hostel with a prison museum. There are also beaches, open-air stages, charming buildings and a nice allotment garden area on Långholmen. The island is also home to Mälarvarvet (The Mälaren Yard), one of Stockholm’s oldest shipyards, and a small Bellman museum with a café. There is a wonderful view from the east side of the island over Riddarfjärden and Gamla Stan.

Marabouparken is one of Sweden’s best-preserved functionalist settings. In the park, there is a collection of sculptures as well as a gallery with exhibitions of contemporary art. Their restaurant alone is worth the trip.

The noise of the city seems infinitely far away in the grove on the hill. Observatorielunden is a green oasis only a stone’s throw from the throbbing pulse of Drottninggatan. Exactly as the name implies, there’s an observatory in the park that goes back to the 1700s. One wing, from the end of the nineteenth century, contains Kafé Himlavalvet, known for its delicious waffles and toppings from a special waffle menu. The café and its outdoor seating area are open all year except for January.

Rålambshovsparken on Kungsholmen is a popular park for activities during the summer. The park is located between two popular residential areas, with a great view over Riddarfjärden, City Hall, and Gamla Stan. People come here to play soccer, boule, beach volleyball, softball or visit the skate park. During the summer you can also take part in an aerobics session, or take a swim in the waters of Lake Mälaren.

The world’s first national urban park is a green lung forming an arc more than six miles long, stretching around and through the city.

You can walk for days through the Ekoparken, discovering ever new lovely spots.There&#x27;s an abundance of things to see: museums, an amusement park, theaters and entertainment, castles, inns and hotels, sports facilities, numerous residences from different historical periods, hills with centuries-old oak trees, lakes, streams, bays, marshes, and canals.The meadows with grazing cows, horses, and sheep, secluded swimming spots, rocky hilltops, and areas with wild, virgin nature make it hard to take in that you&#x27;re in the middle of a big city.

Skeppsholmen

Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen are two beautiful islands in the middle of Stockholm, joined together by a bridge. The easiest way to get here is just by taking a walk along Skeppsholmsbron or taking the public transport ferry from Slussen or Nybrokajen. The islands are probably best known for their museums and attractions; Moderna Musset, The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, and Stockholm Toy Museum are all found here. They&#x27;re also great for a seaside walk, with a panoramic view of Östermalm, Djurgården, Södermalm, and Gamla Stan. And if you want to chill out for a bit, maybe enjoy a takeaway lunch from any of the cafés or restaurants here, Sveskuddsparken or Kastellparken offer a green oasis.

Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen

: Tantolunden is a large park by Årstaviken on the island of Södermalm. People of all ages meet here for swimming and picnics in the summer and for sledding in the winter. This image shows an allotment with a small red house in the summertime.

Tantolunden is a large park by Årstaviken on the island of Södermalm. Its location close to the restaurants and cafés of Hornstull, Mariatorget, and SoFo has made the area a popular meeting place for young Stockholmers. People of all ages meet here for swimming and picnics in the summer and for sledding in the winter. There&#x27;s a playground, beach volleyball court, minigolf, a frisbee golf course, and an open-air theater. Don&#x27;t miss the chance to take a stroll up the hill and enjoy the more than 100 allotment gardens and garden sheds. Creative carpentry and gardening have been blooming behind the fences since 1915.

Tegnérlunden

Tegnérlunden was built in the 1940s and is a popular lunch spot for takeaway lunches during spring and summer. One of its defining traits is the large statue of playwright August Strindberg by Carl Eldh. But avid Astrid Lindgren-readers might also recognize the name since it&#x27;s featured in several of her books. It&#x27;s for example here that Bo Vilhelm Olsson lest out the genie that whisks him away to The Land of Far Away in Mio, My Son.

Tenstadalen

Tenstadalen is a playground and activity park in the northern Stockholm suburb of Tensta, that opened in the fall of 2022. The new park features several jungle gyms, picnic and barbecue areas, new lighting, and benches. The park also features several areas for training like a parkour track.

Vannadislunden Vinter

Vanadislunden, named after the Norse goddess Vanadis/Freya, is one of Stockholm&#x27;s largest parks. Here you&#x27;ll find several jungle gyms, walking paths among the trees, and a fantastic view of Stockholm. During the summer months, you can also take a swim in the open-air swimming pool Vanadisbadet.

Vasaparken

Vasaparken is located in the middle of the Vasastan-district, close to both S:t Eriksplan&#x27;s and Odenplan&#x27;s subway stations. The park is a beloved oasis for inner-city Stockholmers and has a soccer pitch, jungle gym, and a green lush environment that received the Siena Prize in 2007; Architects Sweden&#x27;s award for landscaping. In other words, there are lots of places for a picnic or an ice cream break. During winter there&#x27;s an ice skating rink located here.At Vasaparken&#x27;s northeastern end you&#x27;ll find Astrid Lindgren&#x27;s terrace, close to Dalagatan where she lived. Dalagatan which, by the way, movie buffs probably recognize from the Swedish Noir classic The Man on the Roof. Adjacent to the park you&#x27;ll also find Sven Harry&#x27;s Art Museum.

Vitabergsparken

Vita Bergen, commonly known as Vitabergsparken, is a popular picnic hangout located on Southern Södermalm. The park’s high elevation makes it a great viewpoint of Södermalm on a sunny summer’s day. Built in 1897 to give the factory workers a place for rest and relaxation, the park still features many typical 19th century buildings.
