In 2025, one of Sweden’s most beloved sports traditions, Finnkampen, celebrates its 100th anniversary – and it will be a celebration in full force at Stockholm Stadion. This is an arena where heroes are made, history is ever-present, and the audience becomes part of the action.
Finnkampen has delivered some of Sweden’s most iconic moments in athletics. Now, we look forward to new memories being created this year.
Stockholms stadion
Stockholms stadion was inaugurated in 1912 for the Olympic Games and is today one of the oldest active Olympic arenas in the world. It was designed by architect Torben Grut in the National Romantic style and is an iconic Stockholm landmark, known for its brick walls, spires, and vaults.
The arena seats around 14,000 spectators and has, over the years, been the stage for many historic sporting moments — from Gunder Hägg’s record-breaking runs to European champions and international competitions. It has even hosted concerts by artists such as The Rolling Stones and David Bowie.

Finnkampsloppet
This year, everyone has the chance to take part in Finnkampen, through Finnkampsloppet. It’s a five-kilometer race that starts just outside Stockholm Stadion and finishes inside the arena.
Right after Finnkampsloppet, the official 10-kilometer race for professional athletes will begin.
