Is it permitted to camp with a tent in the Stockholm area?

Yes, it is permitted to camp with a tent in the Stockholm area thanks to Sweden’s Right of Public Access. However, there are some rules to keep in mind.

  • You may camp in nature, by lakes, and on archipelago islands as long as you do not disturb landowners or others, and stay no more than one night in the same place.
  • It is not permitted to pitch a tent on private property, near houses, in city parks, or in nature reserves where camping is prohibited.
  • In the archipelago, you can enjoy the sea, cliffs, and forest – but remember to check nature reserves, follow any fire bans, and leave the place as beautiful as you found it.
