There was a time when vegetarian restaurants were few and far between in Stockholm, and ordering the vegetarian option meant getting a meat dish – sans meat. Things have changed.

Today, you’re guaranteed to find exquisite vegetarian and vegan alternatives on any menu. And not only in one of Stockholm's great plant-based restaurants or cafés.

  • Delivore – Vegan café and lunch restaurant, serving plant-based snacks, sandwiches, and sweets. Delivore is part of the vegan grocery and food store Goodstore.
  • Fern & Fika – Plant-based café and lunch restaurant in the Hornstull-area. Has bowls, daily soups and stews, and a variety of sweets, cookies, and cakes.
  • Växhuset – Växhuset serves a plant-based, seasonal tasting menu. The restaurant is adjacent to the Trädgården/Under Bron nightclub, under the Skanstull bridge on Södermalm.
  • Mahalo – Breakfast -and lunch restaurant serving plant-based dishes. Bowls, pancakes, sandwiches, chili, and more. Has several locations in Stockholm.
  • The Green Queen – Seasonal sister restaurant to the popular summer bar Mälarpaviljongen on Kungsholmen. Offers a plant-based menu from late spring/early summer to late summer.

Vegetarian restaurants in Stockholm

Dishes might include egg or dairy, but no meat otherwise. Several menu items are vegan as well.

  • Blå+ – Sister restaurant to Blå Porten, Blå+ is the museum eatery at Liljevalchs Konsthall on Djurgården. The vegetarian restaurant is located in the art hall's annex Liljevalchs+.
  • Chutney – One of Stockholm's oldest vegetarian restaurants, Chutney opened in 1987. Has a varied menu with a mix of Indian cuisine, burgers, pizza, and more, with many dishes being entirely vegan.
  • Falafelbaren – Popular falafeljoint on Hornsgatan serving falafel, hummus, and börek. Although many dishes are vegan, some might inclucude grillost-cheese or labneh-yoghurt balls.
  • Grain Café – Breakfast and lunch café on Kungsholmen serving hearty portions of porridge with a variety of fruits, nuts, and toppings. Dishes are either vegan or vegetarian and served with either dairy milk or oat milk.
  • Hermans – Beloved buffét-style restaurant with a great view of Stockholm. Herman's buffet table includes both vegetarian dishes and entirely plant-based vegan options.
  • La Piccola Nonna – A Neapolitan pizzeria-on-wheels that has taken up permanent residence on Blekingegatan since 2019. All pies can be ordered as either vegetarian or vegan.

  • Bastard Burgers – Swedish burger chain, with a variety of veggie burgers to choose from. Either with Swedish grillost (a halloumi-esque cheese) or a plant-based chicken substitute. Has several locations in Stockholm.
  • Dr. Mat – Lunch restaurant and deli, with a focus on healthy ingredients and food. Serves a mix of meat, fish, and vegan-friendly dishes. Also sells its brand of probiotic food like fermented vegetables, vinegar, and more.
  • Farang – Diners at Farang have two set menus of Southeast Asian cuisine to choose from. One includes fish -and meat dishes, and the other is wholly vegan.
  • Maxos – Popular lunch restaurant on Kungsholmen serving Palestinian classics like hummus, börek, and falafel. Has several great vegan -and vegetarian options.
  • Minh Mat – Vietnamese restaurant at Odenplan, hailed as one of the best in Stockholm. Has several vegan staples like spring and autumn rolls, and king oyster mushroom on the menu.
  • Reggev Hummus – Arguably the first hummus restaurant in Stockholm. Although there are few meat dishes on the menu, the vast majority are vegetarian or vegan.
  • Restaurangen – Fotografiska – Acclaimed museum restaurant, noted for its large focus on sustainable ingredients and dishes. Has a set menu that leans heavily towards vegan and vegetarian, but with the occasional meat or fish (which can be substituted).
  • Rosetta's – Cozy and stylish American diner in Hornstull, serving soul-food classics. The menu is entirely plant-based, save for the occasional clam or oyster-dish.
  • Sally Voltaire & Systrar – Eco-friendly all-day-restaurant located on the top floor of the Åhlens department store. While most dishes are vegetarian, the menu has a daily fish/seafood special.
