Robert Tham: My 5 tips for a great Stockholm-vacation

Publish date: 8 December 2022

How should you spend the time between games during the Men's Handball Championship in Stockholm? We asked Robert Tham, chairman of the Men's World Cup in Stockholm, for his best tips.

During the last week of January 2023, handball fans from the whole world will come together in Stockholm to support their teams during the knock-out round and finals of the 2023 Men's World Championships. Robert Tham is chairman of the championship's local organization, as well as chairman of the Huddinge Handball Club. We had chat about his best tips on what else to see, do and eat in Stockholm.

Robert Tham's five tips for a great Stockholm vacation:

Fjällgatan: "This viewpoint on Södermalm gives you a lovely vista over Lake Mälaren, Old Town, and The Royal Palace."

Mariaberget: "Another great viewpoint but located on the other side of Södermalm, alone Monteliusvägen. You'll see Lake Mälaren, Stockholm City Hall, and Kungsholmen."

Zum Franziskaner: "One of Stockholm's oldest restaurants. Opened in 1889 and still has most of the original decor left. Perfect for anyone who needs a sightseeing break, and maybe something tasty to eat and drink."

Tolv (O'Learys): "If you're unable to see the games live, at Tele2 Arena, I highly recommend the sports bar Tolv. It's actually located at the arena and is one of O'learys largest bars. Good food and great atmosphere for sports fans."

Millenium City Walk: "If you'd prefer a guided tour with a twist, and see more than just the classic sights, I recommend the self-guided Millenium City Walk. You'll walk in the footsteps of Mikael Nyqvist and Lisbeth Salander, see where they live and where they take their daily fika."
