Stockholm Pride in July-August is the highlight of the year. Since its foundation in 1998, it has become one of Stockholm’s largest annual festivals, as well as the biggest Pride celebration in Scandinavia with over 60 000 attendees each year. Stockholm also hosts Cinema Queer International Film Festival, Sweden's largest queer film festival. It was founded in 2012 with the aim of broadening the cinema offerings in Sweden beyond the hetero-normative. The festival focuses on film that questions, discuss, and looks beyond the prevailing norms, and illuminates the stories that otherwise would go unnoticed.
