Södermalms mainstreet: Guide to Hornsgatan

Publish date: 24 November 2023

Hornsgatan is one of Södermalm's longest streets and has a plethora of great bars, shops, and restaurants. Here are some of the best.

If Sofo is Södermalm’s heart, Götgatan and Hornsgatan form its central nervous system. Cutting across the northern edge of the district, Hornsgatan is one of Södermalm’s busiest and longest streets. It stretches from Södermalmstorg in the east to Hornstull in the west, and along the way, you’ll find some of Söder’s most popular bars and nightclubs, unique shops, cozy cafés, and historical buildings.

Either take a walk along Hornsgatan, from one end to the other and maybe with some detours to find the hidden gems on any of the adjacent streets. Or, if you’re pressed for time, travel to any of the four subway stops along the street (Slussen, Mariatorget, Zinkensdamm, and Hornstull) for a quick visit.
