Stockholm is home to many of Sweden's most prestigious art museums, many of which incorporate artworks in the surrounding nature and gardens.

As Sweden and the City of Stockholm have a long tradition of public art, several public sculpture parks are scattered in and around the city, making art accessible for anyone to enjoy at any time.

Many of the museums surrounded by sculptures offer interesting info the outdoor artworks online, such as:

  • Sculpture in Nature at Artipelag – Art hall on the island of Värmdö in the inner-archipelago. There's a walking path surrounding the museum, lined with sculptures amongst the trees and by the water.
  • The sculptures in Marabouparken's park – A former chocolate factory, turned art museum in the suburb of Sundbyberg. The surrounding park features an eclectic collection of works in a lovely milieu.
  • The sculpture park of Millesgården – The former home and studio of world-renowned artist Carl Milles on the island of Lidingö. The inner courtyard has a sculpture park and offers a magnificent view of Stockholm.
  • The park and garden of Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde – Art museum located in art-loving Price Eugen's (1865-1947; great-granduncle to the current regent, H.M. Carl XVI Gustaf) villa on Djurgården. The surrounding park has a collection of sculptures personally selected by the prince.

  • Moderna Museet outdoor collection – Moderna is located on the small island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. Parts of the collection, one of northern Europe's most prominent in modern and contemporary art, are accessible all year round in the museum's surroundings.
  • The architecture and sculpture park of the Thiel Gallery – Businessman and patron of the arts Ernst Thiel used the Thiel Gallery as his summer residence until he died in 1947. The surrounding park has both great art and architecture to admire.
  • The Princess Estelle Sculpture Park in Royal Djurgården – Inaugurated in 2020, in the green and lush Rosendal-area of Djurgården. The sculpture park focuses on contemporary art, with the unveiling of new additions each spring.
