Sledding in Stockholm

Koppartälten (copper-tents) at Haga, elaborate light blue ”tents” build 1787. The front is painted copper plates, hence the name of these pretty buildings.

Part of the Royal National City Park, the lush Haga Park (or just Haga) is situated just north of Stockholm in the suburb of Solna. Founded by the monarch Gustav III in 1780-1797, Haga is Sweden&#x27;s foremost example of an English landscape park, and one of Sweden&#x27;s most popular recreational areas. It&#x27;s also the site of many historical landmarks. The Chinese Temple, The Turkish Kiosk, and The Royal Burial Ground are all found in the park. Within the park is also Haga Palace, the residence of Crown Princess Victoria and her family.

If you enjoy the outdoors, the Hellasgården recreation area, 20 minutes from downtown Stockholm, should be on you Stockholm bucket list. Here, you can walk or bike along the paths, or swim by the sandy beach. For the sporty visitor, open-air activities abound, including petanque, beach volleyball, fishing, tennis, canoeing, and yoga. During the winter ice skating and cross-country skiing dominate, with a hole cut in the ice for the bravest swimmers. (There is also a sauna on-site.) Hungry visitors can head to Storstugan, where fika, light lunches, and vegetarian dishes are served.

Hellasgården

Parks in Stockholm. Humlegården, a popular park in central Stockholm, in the area of Östermalm. It’s a beautiful day and one of the parks many tree avenues is visible in the picture. The foliage is covering the sky and a statue is visible in a clearing in the distance.

Humlegården sommar

Humlegården is a green oasis a stone&#x27;s throw from nightclub mecca Stureplan, in the middle of the exclusive Östermalm district.Here you can see businessmen in suits eating brown-bag lunches on the grass when it&#x27;s warm and sunny, but also lots of young families and dog owners. In the beginning, the park was a royal garden established by Johan III, who grew fruit, spices, and hops. &quot;Humlan&quot; has been a public park and a popular spot to relax since 1869.The park includes a large playground area, a skateboard ramp, Surfer&#x27;s summer restaurant, and Omnipollos Flora, a summer biergarten. A statue of the flower king Carl Linnaeus stands in the middle of the park, and the National Library of Sweden is right next to Stureplan.

Ivar Lo&#x27;s Park is one of Stockholm&#x27;s most beloved public parks, yet a hidden gem. Overlooking the northern shore&#x27;s of Södermalm, along scenic Monteliusvägen on Mariaberget, Ivar Lo&#x27;s is also a great viewpoint and perfect spot for a summer picnic.

Lida Nature Reserve is located in Tullinge, just south of Stockholm. The large forest has lots of beautiful nature to experience, a lake for swimming – and a sauna raft! Several walking paths cutting through the forest. For climbers, there&#x27;s also a high-altitude treetop adventure park and a small parkour track. During winter, the walking paths are turned into cross-country skiing tracks.

Lida Nature Reserve

The noise of the city seems infinitely far away in the grove on the hill. Observatorielunden is a green oasis only a stone’s throw from the throbbing pulse of Drottninggatan. Exactly as the name implies, there’s an observatory in the park that goes back to the 1700s. One wing, from the end of the nineteenth century, contains Kafé Himlavalvet, known for its delicious waffles and toppings from a special waffle menu. The café and its outdoor seating area are open all year except for January.

Observatorielunden

: Tantolunden is a large park by Årstaviken on the island of Södermalm. People of all ages meet here for swimming and picnics in the summer and for sledding in the winter. This image shows an allotment with a small red house in the summertime.

Tantolunden is a large park by Årstaviken on the island of Södermalm. Its location close to the restaurants and cafés of Hornstull, Mariatorget, and SoFo has made the area a popular meeting place for young Stockholmers. People of all ages meet here for swimming and picnics in the summer and for sledding in the winter. There&#x27;s a playground, beach volleyball court, minigolf, a frisbee golf course, and an open-air theater. Don&#x27;t miss the chance to take a stroll up the hill and enjoy the more than 100 allotment gardens and garden sheds. Creative carpentry and gardening have been blooming behind the fences since 1915.

Tantolunden

Vitabergsparken

Vita Bergen, commonly known as Vitabergsparken, is a popular picnic hangout located on Southern Södermalm. The park’s high elevation makes it a great viewpoint of Södermalm on a sunny summer’s day. Built in 1897 to give the factory workers a place for rest and relaxation, the park still features many typical 19th century buildings.
