Stockholm Culture Night 2026

Experience a night of art, music and unexpected cultural encounters as museums, stages and galleries across Stockholm stay open late. During Stockholm Culture Night 2026, the city comes alive with free events and special programs from evening until late.

Kulturnatt Stockholm (or Stockholm Culture Night) is an annual culture festival showcasing the diverse creative scene of the city. Dance, art, architecture, literature, music, theatre, and much more. 2026's festival is on the 18th of April. Museums, theaters, galleries, libraries, and cultural institutions all around the city participate.

Explore Stockholm Culture Night by area

City / Norrmalm

  • Avicii Experience: explore the life, music and the creative process of the iconic Stockholm artist Avicii through original objects, music and interactive installations.
  • Nationalmuseum: a vibrant evening of art, colour and music – with exhibitions, live jazz, interactive installations and hands-on activities at Sweden's museum of art and design.
  • Kulturhuset Stadsteatern & Unga Klara: deaf stand-up comedy, live music karaoke, quizzes, a Silent Disco full moon party, and much more.

Djurgården

  • Liljevalchs: An evening of contemporary art and interactive performances where visitors can view the critically acclaimed exhibition ”When We See Us” as well as the annual Spring Salon (Vårsalongen).
  • National Museum of Science and Technology: move between technology, games, history and future ideas in a museum for all ages, where you can test, explore and experience with your whole body.

Södermalm

  • Stockholms Bränneri: take a guided tour of Stockholm’s first craft distillery and learn how their gin is made. Free tours are given every half hour, with every second tour in English.
  • Stadsgårdsterminalen: a big celebration as Kollektivet Livet and graffiti shop Highlights both turn 25 – with DJs, a skateboard competition, an art market and live music from Club Killers, open until 03:00.
  • Anna Lindhagens Museum: step inside a preserved 19th-century home with amazing views over Stockholm! The museum was created by suffragette, peace activist and environmentalist Anna Lindhagen.

Gamla Stan

  • Stockholm Cathedral: Explore a world of sound in the city’s cathedral. Let the tones carry you through history – in the very heart of the Old Town.
  • Nobel Prize Museum:an evening about hope with talks, music and interactive activities – join guided tours, build a roller coaster, play chess or listen to live DJ sets in the bistro.

Östermalm and Gärdet

  • Frihamnstorget: a creative container village with workshops, DJ sets and activities like origami, fire jam and linedance.
  • Institut Français de Suède: music and light take over the building – watch the façade transform through spectacular light projections, while inside Bromska Palatset the rooms fill with music and interactive performances.
  • Hedvig Eleonora Church: live organ music – from Harry Potter and horror soundtracks to Queen – ending with “Lie down in Hedvig”, where you listen lying down to Chopin’s Nocturnes.
  • The Royal Dramatic Theatre: visit Sweden’s national theatre, try on costumes and go on a guided tour behind the scenes.

Skeppsholmen

  • Moderna Museet: experience an eight-hour long performance, join a creative workshop, explore the museum’s collections and the photo exhibition “Brassaï – Paris by Night”. DJ sets, Drink & Draw, a bar and poetry add to the evening.
  • Eric Ericsonhallen: enjoy choral music, reinterpretations of Swedish songs and live performances – followed by a large dance floor open until 02:00.

Vasastan

  • The Cell: take part in the interactive work “Fluid Field”, where you become a co-player in a shifting game using sport as a metaphor for human behaviour – with live commentary.
  • Stockholm Observatory (STAR & AU): stargaze through telescopes, join drop-in talks and explore the historic observatory dome during a space-themed evening.

Beyond the city centre

  • Husby Art Salon: art across the neighborhood – pop-up galleries, large format public art and graffiti sculptures with works by over 300 artists.
  • Filmstadens Kultur:experience Sweden’s Hollywood – guided tours, film screenings, quizzes and talks in the historic Filmstaden.
  • Telefonfabriken: Mosaikteatern presents a humorous, musical and poetic chamber play, alongside a photo exhibition and a live concert.
