The Swedish metal scene is known all around the world. Once an underground phenomenon, it's become an important export giving rise to bands and artists like Opeth, Entombed, Bathory, Meshuggah, At the Gates, Sabaton, Hammerfall, Arch Enemy, Ghost, Yngwie Malmsteen, In Flames, Candlemass, Dissection, and many more. The exhibition Total Metal explores why this music resonates with so many, how extreme music has evolved, and how it leaped from crowded clubs to sold-out arenas.
