In the history of the Royal Swedish Orchestra, 2026 is a very special year. It is the year when the orchestra celebrates its fifth centenary. Celebrations will be held throughout the year – in spring we will be able to enjoy six magnificent concerts on the Royal Swedish Opera main stage. When We See Us: A century of Black figurative painting has been celebrated internationally as one of the most significant exhibitions of our time. The exhibition comprises over 155 works borrowed from institutions and private collectors from 26 different countries. The artworks, created by Black artists around the world over the past century, are set in dialogue with contemporary Black thinkers, writers, and poets.

When We See Us

Nordic Moments at the Nordic Museum highlights photographic collections in an evolving presentation. The opening exhibition Metamorphoses displays negatives rescued from the project 100,000 Photo Memories, where time and chemistry created new visual expressions. On view from October 17, 2025.

This exhibition brings together filmmaker Johan Renck and photographer Anders Petersen. The exhibition centres around a still image film by Renck that is based on Petersen’s black-and-white documentary photographs. The film is accompanied by newly composed music. The exhibition also includes original photographs by Petersen, which were part of his series on Swedish prisons and inpatient mental health institutions.

August Strindberg and Ellen Key stood side by side for a long time, until... Based on Strindberg&#x27;s Black Flags, Key&#x27;s Abused Power of Women and the well-known and hidden gems of the opera repertoire, Strindberg&#x27;s Intima Teater creates a playful and charged performance about these two combatants.
