Bandy

Romus Ramström

Introduced in Sweden in the late 19th century, bandy was for a long time one of the biggest sports in Sweden. Although interest has waned since then it’s still a beloved sport deeply ingrained in Swedish culture.

Originally from England, bandy is the second biggest winter-sport in the world, with some 350 000 registered players. And the Swedish players are right at the top with both the national men’s and women’s teams considered among the best in the world, having won the 12 and 8 World Cup titles respectively.

The most prominent Stockholm club is Hammarby Bandy, and their home stadium Zinkensdamm IP is hallowed bandy-ground. The bandy-season lasts from October to February, and tickets can be bought on-site or through the club’s webpage.
