This ironic baroque opera by Handel was composed for the Carnival of Venice in 1710, and is about power and eroticism with a strong woman in the title role. The plot is taken from Roman history and revolves around the power-hungry Empress Agrippina. The title role includes the mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg, an international star in the baroque genre. Staffan Valdemar Holm directs. Drottningholmsteatern is a unique building from an international perspective. It is the only 18th-century theater in the world that still uses the original stage machinery regularly.
