"text": "Ornate runestones, in effect ancient billboards with important messages written in runic alphabets, were a preferred mode of communication of the Vikings. Of the world's 7500+ recorded rune stones over 2000 are located in Sweden, and they can be found in the woods all around the Stockholm area. But the biggest concentration of preserved runestones in the world can be found in Runriket just north of Stockholm. Runriket is located in the woods around Vallentunasjön and free for everyone to visit. But to make the best out of your Viking hike, start at the official park entrance at Jarlbankes bridge and work your way around the trail! You can also book a guided tour of the area with a personal guide.",

"text": "Sweden’s first town, founded in the 10th century. Small-scale and pedestrian friendly, with charming wooden buildings by Lake Mälaren, less than an hour outside of Stockholm. Good selection of stores, cafés, restaurants and hotels, plus an interesting museum. The district is rich in rune stones, to fascinate history buffs. Sigtuna can be reached by train, bus, or boat from the center of Stockholm. Nearby is Skokloster Castle, a first-class attraction. Skokloster was the residence of one of Gustav II Adolf’s generals when Sweden was a superpower, and the castle interior from the mid 17th century has been kept completely intact. Steninge Palace and Rosersberg Palace is also situated close to Sigtuna.",

"text": "Svartsö is of the largest of the mid-archipelago islands. There is a country store at Ahlsvik’s jetty and nearby Svartsö Krog has its own jetty. Rent a bike or walk and then cool down at one of the island’s inland lakes. The inhabitants of Svartsö get their drinking water from Storträsk, the largest of these lakes. In Skälvik you will find Svartsö Herrgårdspensionat, a summer villa from the early 1900s that is now a guesthouse and restaurant that has rooms available during the summer season (April to October). There are also cottages for rent.",
