This is Stockholm
Modernity meets tranquility. Trend-setting restaurants and vibrant nightclubs next to idyllic archipelago. Welcome to a city where it is easy to breathe – and to feel your pulse.
Filmhuset (The Film House) is home to one of the city’s largest cinemas and to the Swedish Film Institute. Concrete and sharp lines offer a contrast to the rolling grass of the Gärdet plain outside. The architecture offers numerous nods to the movie world: the windows resemble the sides of a roll of film; the entire building is shaped like a camera, and the elevator doors are inspired by makeup mirrors. From above, the building looks like a roll of film.
In addition to the national film activities that take place here, and a library devoted to literature and magazines on film, movies are screened six days per week. Filmhuset is the main venue for Cinemateket which showcases a wide program consisting of auter masterpiececs, cult rarities and cinema classics.
