One of Europe’s best preserved 18th century theatres. A unique attraction with its original scenery, 200-year old stage machinery and interior decoration virtually untouched by the passage of time. Guided tours only. Opera and ballet performances May–August.
Exactly as described. On the tour you'll see original 18th-century wallpapers (don't touch!), and once you're sitting in the theater itself, the idea of Mozart-era opera suddenly comes alive. It was amazing to imagine the composer playing the harpsichord in the pit while the trio from "Cosi" sang on stage, waves rolling in the background and all. It's a short tour and visit, but worth it. Purchase tour tickets/reserve a space with the Stockholm Card in the building to the right of the theater.
