Tyresta nationalpark
Tyresta National Park, 40 minutes away by subway and bus, is one of the largest untouched woodlands in Sweden outside the alpine areas. The area has a beautiful virgin forest and was made a national park in 1993.
The park has a 30-kilometer perimeter and a wide variety of unique plants and animals. Pack a picnic and take a walk in the wild, magical forest. Stop to pick berries or swim in one of the lakes.
Take bus 807 or 809 from Gullmarsplan to the Svartbäcken stop. Take connecting bus 834, getting off at the Tyresta By station, which is near the park’s main entrance.
There is a café and farm shop in Tyresta By and buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Also worth seeing are the exhibits at Naturum (Nationalparkernas hus). The building is shaped like a map of Sweden and is characterized by its eco-friendliness and natural materials.
