Buy a three-day or season pass at the Stockholm Tourist Centre or on the web and borrow a bike from 70 sites around the city from April to October.
As a frequent quest to Stockholm I use city bikes very often. Never really had any proble with it. In the city center the stations are not so far apart from each other. If there is no bike or not a free slot available it is always possible to check another station which 5 min away. Great concept, really!!! I would recommend it to all Stockholm visitors.
Three of us used the 3 day pass in early Sept. What a great way to see Stockholm!!! And for about $ 30 USD per bike. Upsides; the check spots were in reasonably convenient locations, the bikes were easy to adjust and operate (3 speed shifting) , and the check-out and check-in worked about 90% of the time.Downsides;Poor Equipment conditions. In about 40% of rentals, we needed to return the bike because it was inoperable. Soft or flat tires, badly adjuäksted shifters, or seat stems that were over-greased, and would slip down, or broken adjustment seat levers. Once our card locked out after trying 3 inoperable bikes. Another time the software didn't register our bike as returned. Customer service was friendly.Still, this is THE best way to see Stockholm's central city. Bring a simple bike lock with yourself, and you'll be fully free to view all tourist sites. Täk Tak!
I agree with the comments above. The bikes are very difficult to locate and once I found a station, 50% of the time there were no bikes available.
The bike stands are very hard to find as they are hidden between two advertising posters. When you want a bike there are none there and when you need to drop it off at a tourist spot the slots are all full. Probably good for residents but we wasted more time looking for the bikes then they saved riding. Just rent from a real company - you'll be much happier!
it could be difficult sometimes to find bikes... walking a long time, hoping a lot... sometime the machine doesn't work and sometimes you never find the parking (wrong adress on the map?), but when you find one really beautiful way to discover stockholm ! so not enough bike
Today the bikes were unavailable till late afternoon. Should our 3day passes be extended one day? Thank you
I stayed at Clarion Hotel Stockholm and I bought my bike card at the reception. Look at Stockholm City Bikes webpage for a list of hotels & hostels offering bike cards.
